IV International Interdisciplinary Conference

One world-many cultures
„Contemporary challenges of social and economic development”.

7-8 November 2013

In 7-8 November 2013 Kujawy and Pomorze University in Bydgoszcz for the fourth time became forum for exchanging ideas and for presentation of reserach in a circle of the representants of various academic and business societies. In the session of the conference from „One world – many cultures” cycle participated over 100 speakers, among them 20 guests from abroad. The leading subject of the debate was: „Contemporary challenges of social and economic development”.

During this year’s Conference the agreement on establishing of the International Consortium of Rectors and Presidents of Universities and Higher Education Institutions was signed. This initiative provides the possibility to establish and develop wide range of cooperation areas between the universities and their economic, institutional, cultural, sport environment. At the University level it means an aspiration for introducing unified study programme at the partner Universities topped off with a possibility of obtaining multiple diplomas.

Within the frames of economic panel of the „One world – many cultures” conference the 1st Economic Forum was held aimed at deepening the international economic cooperation, with the use of Universities’ potential. The 1st Economic Forum was an opportunity to present achievements and capabilities of the companies form our region.

It is worth emphasising that as a result of talks between Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn and Kujawy and Pomorze University in Bydgoszcz the initiative of signing another agreement was conceived. The Universities made a decision to establish Polish Culture Centre in Kyrgyzstan with the seat in Kyrgyz National University and Kyrgyz Culture Centre with its seat in Kujawy and Pomorze University in Bydgoszcz.

The parties of the agreement intend to provide the possibility to learn and improve the command of Polish and Kyrgyz language as well as to obtain knowledge of Polish and Kyrgyz culture, history as well as national heritage and language.

In the inauguration ceremony and in its plenary session paricipated many distinguished guests. We were honoured by the presence of the members of foreign governments, MPs, representatives of authorities, religious clergy, universities and institutions cooperating with the KPU. The plenary session was opened by Vice-Minister of Hungarian Government Mr Attila Fülöp who presented his paper about the economic approach to demographic issues. We received also honorary professor of KPU Mons. Giuseppe Scotti, Chairman of the Vatican Foundation Joseph Ratzinger-Benedykt XVI. After that prof. dr hab. Maria Ryś from the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw presented her dissertation “The need of building the civilisation of love as the anwser to the civilisation of death that threatens us”.

The thematic sessions were divided into following sections:

I. Religion and culture towards the threats of contemporary society.
II. Economic and social dilemmas of market economy.
III. The present in legal and administrative dimension.
IV. Technical civilisation of the 21st century.
V. The future of education in the light of he crises of contemporary world.
